Back in May I have announced, that I received an invitation from the Berlin Buzzwords org team to record live onsite.

The invite to do so actually came already for 2023, but due to family reasons I could not attend. It was a happy and an exciting moment to be able to finally come to Berlin to my favorite tech conference and record LIVE episodes with the speakers! In 2022 we have already spoken at the conference with Aarne Talman, our talk recording can be viewed here. Back then I have tried out an experimental format of recording an episode with conference participants. It felt nice, that this idea caught the attention of the conference org team.

The first episode I have recorded this year was with Doug Turnbull. It was also the first time we have met in person, although already in 2013 we have simultaneously attended the Lucene Revolution conference in Dublin. It turns out about that time Doug has also co-created Quepid, the tool I’ve been loud about for evaluating your search quality.

In this episode Doug shares how he thinks about everything he does as an act of learning in public: blogging, open source, book writing, speaking — I’d even add his posts on LinkedIn. Personally, I learn a lot from his thought leadership in search.

I will keep updating this blog post with more episodes I’ve recorded — so stay tuned! As usual, you will get to listen to these episodes on your lovely audio platforms — be sure to subscribe to be notified of new episodes.

And enjoy your summer!
